Eight Kent country parks retain Green Flag Award

Kent County Council (KCC) is celebrating after retaining eight Green Flag Awards for its country parks.

Shorne Woods, Teston Bridge, Manor Park, Lullingstone, Trosley, Pegwell Bay, Grove Ferry and Brockhill have all continued to be recognised.

The award is the international quality mark for parks and green spaces, rewarding organisations for managing the areas well.

KCC’s Cabinet Member for Environment, Rob Thomas, said: “We know how important quality green spaces are for people and wildlife.

“Our country parks play a vital role and are valued greatly by communities across Kent.

“These awards celebrate the dedication that goes into maintaining them to such a high standard and I am delighted we have maintained our eight Green Flag Awards.”

The Green Flag Award scheme is managed by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy.

Keep Britain Tidy’s Accreditation Manager, Paul Todd MBE, said:I would like to congratulate everyone involved in making Shorne Woods, Teston Bridge, Manor Park, Lullingstone and Brockhill Country Park worthy of a Green Flag Award.

“These are vital green spaces for the communities of Kent. This award is testament to all the hard work of staff and volunteers, who do so much to ensure that it maintains the high standards demanded by the Green Flag Award.”
